Pinterest
is a social media site that allows users to share and save
content to virtual boards called pinboards. These boards can be
of any interest and ranges from cooking, gardening, shopping and
sports plus so much more!
Pinterest
has over 100 million active users as of September 2015 and 85% of
those users are female. So as you can tell this is a HUGE market for
women and connecting with that market will be very simple.
After
you have created a profile you'll want to connect your account to
Facebook so you can start following your friends on Pinterest who are
also connected to you on Facebook.
Add
a “pin it” button to your browser found in the help section and
follow the simple directions to be able to pin any image right from
your browser.
As
you start following people, repin some of their pins so you can start
becoming active and have boards of your own that people will follow.
You'll want to be active on Pinterest just as you would Facebook,
Twitter or any other social media platform so spend a few minutes a
day repinning from current users or pin your own by using the “pin
it” button we talked about a bit ago. A good rule of thumb is to
pin 3-10 times a day and keep your boards fresh with new pins and
content.
If
you're blogging be sure you pin your new blog posts with a good
description of the post you're pinning. A recent study showed that a
call to action in a pin description increased engagement by 80%
adding to the overall goal to get your pins repinned by other users
to increase traffic to your blog or website.
Use this Pinterest Tip... Including “Pin this
post to read later” is a great call to action! Adding
keyword rich descriptions is also a great way to increase traffic and
gain traffic from Google.
